Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo praises President John Dramani Mahama for his recent declaration of a National Day of Prayer, calling it a timely and unifying initiative for the country.

Nana Addo expressed his appreciation when the planning committee of the National Day of Prayer paid a courtesy call on him at his residence, highlighting the importance of faith, unity, and national cohesion in addressing the challenges Ghana currently faces.

According to Nana Addo, the National Day of Prayer is not only a spiritual call but also a strong statement on the need for solidarity across political and religious lines.

Nana Addo, in his praises, said, “All of us have to support this initiative. It is clearly a worthwhile initiative that we have this one day where all of us come together to give thanks to the Almighty for the many, many blessings he has bestowed upon us.”

On his part, Chairman of the planning committee, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, expressed appreciation to Nana Addo for his endorsement.

He said “He welcomed us, endorsed the whole programme and thanked the president for the great initiative. He commended us, and we are very grateful.”

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is slated for July 1 every year, an initiative led by Mahama as a symbolic and substantive call to spiritual reflection, national gratitude, and renewed unity.

The occasion will be commemorated across all 16 regions and 261 districts, uniting the nation under one collective spiritual canopy.

The Committee is chaired by former Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, with Prophet Dr Akwasi Agyemang Prempeh as the Coordinator.

The committee members are drawn from the various Christian and Islamic denominations and councils.
