A 33-year-old man, identified as Enoch Abrokwa, has died after he was allegedly stabbed in the chest by his 19-year-old girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, during a disagreement at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
The incident occurred on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the deceased’s business premises, with the Tesano Divisional Police Command investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations indicate that a misunderstanding between the two escalated into violence, resulting in Asante allegedly stabbing Abrokwa with a piece of broken glass.
Abrokwa was initially rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina for medical attention before being referred to Ridge Hospital, where he underwent surgery for a deep wound that reportedly affected his intestines.
Despite efforts to save his life, he died on October 14 while receiving treatment, five days after the incident.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the police said the suspect was arrested on October 10 after the complainant and three other individuals brought her to the police station.
The statement indicated that Asante reportedly admitted to stabbing Abrokwa during questioning.
She was subsequently arraigned before the court and remanded into police custody. She is expected to reappear in court on November 3, 2026, as the legal process continues.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged members of the public to exercise restraint when faced with disagreements and to seek peaceful ways of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.
The command also appealed for public cooperation as investigations into the incident continue, assuring that the case will be handled in accordance with the law.
