Zoomlion Ghana Limited has begun the nationwide deployment of 200 state-of-the-art waste management trucks, rolling out the first 100 across all 16 regions to reinforce Ghana’s sanitation infrastructure and improve public health.

The remaining 100 trucks are expected to arrive soon, as part of what the company describes as a strategic expansion of its operations.

At the launch of the Eastern Region’s share of the new fleet, held in Koforidua, Enoch Boahene, Sanitation Chairman for New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, lauded Zoomlion for its consistent and innovative role in combating Ghana’s waste crisis. Speaking on behalf of the Eastern Regional Minister, Boahene said the newly deployed trucks will significantly enhance operational efficiency and district-level waste collection.

Zoomlion averts waste crisis

“If not for Zoomlion’s innovative waste management strategies, waste would have engulfed the country,” Boahene said.

“Thanks to their haulage systems and collaboration with local assemblies, we’ve been able to clear major waste piles in places like New J uaben and resolve emerging sanitation challenges.”

He urged chiefs, opinion leaders, and individuals to support Zoomlion’s work, describing the company’s role as vital to Ghana’s development.

Zoomlion’s 360 Waste Limited General Manager, Mr. Emil Amoah, emphasized that the truck rollout reflects the company’s long-term investment in sanitation and urban sustainability.

“This fleet expansion is a reflection of our deep commitment to environmental protection, public health, and sustainable urban development,” he said.

High-tech trucks to improve sanitation

The new trucks are equipped with modern features to enhance speed, efficiency, and service reliability under various environmental conditions.

With better coverage, including previously underserved communities, the initiative aims to reduce health risks associated with poor sanitation while enabling a more responsive system during emergency or high-demand periods.

“This is not just about collecting waste—it’s about ensuring that the services are timely, reliable, and centered on community needs,” Mr. Amoah explained Each region will receive a share of the new fleet, empowering local teams to better manage waste in their jurisdictions.

The company sees the intervention as crucial to tackling Ghana’s growing urban waste challenges, especially in rapidly expanding cities.

Partnership with MMDAs

Zoomlion continues to collaborate closely with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to align local operations with national sanitation objectives.

The company believes that building strong partnerships is essential to lasting progress in Ghana’s environmental health landscape.

“Our collaboration with local authorities is grounded in mutual respect and a shared vision of providing exceptional service delivery to all Ghanaians,” Amoah said.

Commitment to sustainability and long-term impact

Beyond logistics, Zoomlion maintains a focus on sustainability, combining environmentally sound practices with economic viability and community impact.

The introduction of this high-capacity fleet is seen as a major milestone in the company’s broader mission to modernize waste management systems and promote hygienic, livable cities across Ghana.

The initiative has been widely praised by local officials and sanitation experts, who see it as a timely and necessary step to address the mounting waste generated by rapid urbanisation.
