The Management of the University of Ghana (UG) has stated that it has initiated internal procedures following a public confrontation between two senior lecturers, Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr George Domfe.
The announcement comes less than a day after both academics issued public apologies on their social media platforms.
In a statement released on Friday morning, November 21, 2025, the University said it has activated provisions in the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011) to assess the behaviour of the two.
UG acknowledged the widely circulated video showing Prof. Gyampo and Dr Domfe engaged in a heated exchange during a panel discussion on The Key Points, a current affairs programme on TV3, aired on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
The discussion escalated into a personal confrontation between the two Senior Members.
According to the statement, the University has begun a formal review process in line with its governing statutes and code of conduct, and will take any disciplinary action deemed necessary.
“The University demands high standards of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements,” the statement said.
Management added that it remains committed to protecting the University’s dignity and maintaining public trust in the institution.
