A fatal accident at Bibiani in the Western North Region has claimed the life of a woman after a timber-laden articulated truck lost control and overturned.

The crash occurred along the Goaso–Bibiani highway, near the Bibiani Old Town road diversion.

According to eyewitness accounts, the truck—a Man Diesel with registration number AS 3047-17—was traveling from Goaso towards Kumasi, carrying large quantities of 4×4 and 4×2 timber.

While negotiating a bend, the truck reportedly became unstable, causing the head of the vehicle to detach from its trailer.

The trailer, weighed down by timber logs, overturned and fell onto a bystander—a woman believed to be in her early 40s—killing her instantly.

Eyewitnesses described the incident as horrifying. “The truck was speeding. When it reached the curve, it lost control. The trailer broke off and landed right where the woman was standing. It was heartbreaking,” a resident told 3news.

Emergency services and personnel from the Ghana Police Service arrived promptly at the scene. The victim’s body was transported to the Bibiani Government Hospital morgue as investigations into the accident began.

Residents are urging authorities to introduce enhanced road safety measures along the stretch, which they say has become notorious for fatal accidents. They are calling for the construction of speed ramps and the placement of clear signage to caution drivers.

The driver of the truck is currently assisting police with their investigation.

It will be recalled that on Friday, June 6, 2025, a newly married man died in an accident at Tanokrom, a suburb of Takoradi. The man in his early 40s died.

The accident happened when a haulage truck carrying timber lost control while heading toward Fijai from Tanokrom.

The truck veered into a Trotro minibus travelling from Takoradi to Kojokrom, resulting in a violent collision.

According to the Trotro driver, Nkansah Kyerematen, who is a newly married man, the truck appeared to reverse uncontrollably toward his vehicle near the Tanokrom Pipeano traffic light. In an attempt to avoid a collision, he swerved and accidentally struck a car behind him. Seconds later, the truck crashed into the Trotro.
