A 41-year-old trader, Belinda Bosompimaa, who is also a TikToker has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with publication of false news.

She allegedly posted on TikTok that certain National Democratic Congress (NDC) members planned to poison Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Bosompimaa, who pleaded not guilty, was granted bail in the sum of GH₵50,000 with two sureties by presiding judge Mr. Kwabena Kodua Obiri Yeboah.

The court noted that the police were in possession of her mobile phones and had filed an ex-parte application seeking access to the device.

The case was adjourned to July 17, 2025 for mention.

Chief Inspector Maalo Jacob Kuubal, prosecuting, opposed bail, arguing that granting bail could lead to deletion of evidence.

He confirmed that an application was pending to access the Bosompimaa’s phone.

Defence counsel appealed for bail, citing that Bosompimaa had been in police custody for over 96 hours, in breach of the 48-hour rule.

He also noted that Bosompimaa is a mother of two and the sole caregiver for her children and sick mother in Kumasi.

The prosecution stated that Bosompimaa, a phone dealer at Santasi, operates the TikTok account @ben.ben, through which she allegedly posted false claims targeting members of the ruling party.

Among the claims intercepted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) in late June 2025, Bosompimaa reportedly alleged that “The President does not have a female child and that Farida Mahama was an adopted child from a children’s home.”

She also posted that “Due to an abortion, the wife of the President could not give birth again hence she adopted Farida.”

Bosompimaa alleged that the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, and others were allegedly planning to kill the Vice President.

She was arrested in Kumasi on June 26, 2025, and admitted to posting the content, claiming it was “mimicked and reposted” from TikTokers “Ghana Jollof Still Osama” and “Obaa Tiwah Vimpower.”
