The Heroes Park at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi came alive on Saturday morning as thousands of mourners gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to Ghana’s late highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba.

‎‎The scene was both solemn and celebratory, reflecting the profound impact the musician had on the nation’s cultural and musical landscape.

‎‎As early as 06:00 hours, mourners, dressed in black attire or Lumba-branded T-shirts, had already begun streaming into the funeral grounds.

‎‎Many carried placards and banners with messages of love and gratitude, while others shared personal stories and fond memories of the music icon, whose songs have spanned generations.

‎‎Fans and admirers travelled from across Ghana and abroad to pay their respects, underscoring the universal admiration for a man often regarded as one of the greatest highlife musicians of all time.

‎‎Amid tight security and meticulous arrangements, mourners patiently joined long queues to file past the coffin and pay their last respects.

‎‎Tears mingled with smiles as attendees recounted how Daddy Lumba’s music had shaped their lives, offering comfort in sorrow and joy in celebration.

‎‎The programme, meticulously organised, featured a band performing live renditions of Daddy Lumba’s greatest hits, evoking nostalgia and prompting spontaneous dancing among the crowd.

‎‎Songs like “Yeeye Aka Akwantuom” and “Aben Wo Ha” filled the air, creating an atmosphere that depicted reverence and jubilation.
