Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey has been hit with two additional rape charges in the United Kingdom, the British Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
The Ghana international had previously been charged with five counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault in August 2025, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
The latest allegations, reported by Diario AS, relate to a separate complaint filed in 2020 and involve a third alleged complainant.
Partey is expected to appear before a London court on Friday, March 13, to enter a plea on the new charges. He remains on bail in the earlier case, which involves two complainants and is still ongoing.
The 32-year-old left London on a free transfer after the legal case became public, joining Villarreal on a two-year contract last summer. Despite criticism from some supporters, the Spanish club defended its decision at the time, stressing the presumption of innocence. Villarreal has not yet commented on the latest development.
On the pitch, Partey has struggled to make a significant impact since returning to Spain. The former Arsenal midfielder has made 21 appearances for Villarreal, totalling 1,068 minutes, starting 12 matches and completing three full games.
Following a 3–0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, manager Marcelino García Toral remarked that it has been “very difficult to play” at Partey’s pace.
The combination of the ongoing legal proceedings and inconsistent form has cast uncertainty over Partey’s time at Villarreal and drawn attention to the club internationally.
