Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed strong confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will return to power in the 2028 general elections, pointing to the foundation laid under his leadership and that of former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

According to him, the achievements and policies implemented during both administrations have created a lasting legacy that will continue to resonate with Ghanaians beyond his tenure.

Speaking at the commissioning of a newly constructed Bantama Constituency office of the NPP on Friday, September 19, 2025, Nana Addo emphasised that while the NPP faces challenges, the party’s track record in governance positions it well to convince the electorate in the next elections.

“The work the NPP did during my time and during former President Kufuor’s time is enormous, and it is that legacy we will build on to win back power in 2028,” Nana Addo said.

He highlighted key initiatives in education, healthcare, and infrastructure as examples of the progress made under successive NPP governments.

Nana Addo added that the party’s commitment to democratic governance and economic reforms has distinguished it from its opponents.

He added: “We have all seen what is happening — you’ve all seen it. Things are not going well. But when we unite and do things right, I know that, with God’s help, we will reclaim power in 2028.”

He also urged party faithful to remain united and focused, stressing that internal cohesion would be vital for the NPP’s success after 2024.

The 2028 polls, if won, would mark a political comeback for the NPP after a potential break in its control of government.
