The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has announced plans to stage a picket at the Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026, over unpaid arrears linked to the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) programme.

In a statement released on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the association said the action has become necessary due to the government’s failure to settle about GH¢50 million owed to its members for the supply of uniforms, house dresses, and school clothes to public senior high schools.

According to NAIS, suppliers have not received payment for goods delivered since 2023, despite repeated engagements with relevant authorities and several appeals for resolution.

The association described the delay as unbearable, noting that it has placed severe financial pressure on its members and is threatening their ability to continue supporting the Free SHS programme effectively.

“The picketing aims not only to draw the government’s attention to our plight but also to urge the immediate release of funds owed to NAIS members,” the statement said.

NAIS stressed that the planned demonstration is intended to highlight the urgency of the situation and push authorities to act swiftly to clear the outstanding debt.

The association further warned that continued delays could undermine the smooth supply of essential items to public senior high schools, potentially affecting students under the Free SHS policy.

It also called on the media to give the planned protest wide coverage to help amplify the concerns of its members and bring greater public attention to the issue.

The picketing is expected to take place at the Ministry of Education on June 11, 2026, unless the government intervenes to resolve the matter beforehand.
