A student, Regan Kwesi Egbe Addo, also known as Morgan Addo, has been arraigned before the Dansoman Circuit Court for allegedly using stolen GCB Bank ATM cards to withdraw a total of GH¢24,849 from two customers.

Addo faces two counts of stealing, to which he has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say the first incident occurred on September 17, 2025, when he allegedly posed as a GCB staff member at the Ministries ATM and tricked a customer into following him to the Société Générale branch nearby.

While pretending to “clean” the customer’s ATM card, he allegedly swapped it and later withdrew GH¢14,949 at various ATMs, including those at Kempinski Hotel and Airport City Shell.

CCTV footage helped police trace his movements.

In a separate case on December 23, 2025, Addo allegedly used the same tactic to steal GH¢9,900 from a female GCB customer who works at the Ministry of Fisheries.

The court has granted him bail and scheduled a case management conference for March 11, 2026.

Prosecutors have been ordered to file witness statements ahead of the next hearing. Police are urging the public to be cautious amid rising ATM-related fraud in Accra.
