The bus collided head-on with an oncoming cargo truck under circumstances that are now under investigation.

Six passengers died at the scene, with a seventh victim succumbing to injuries while being transported to the hospital. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The driver and mate of the cargo truck escaped unhurt but have been taken into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

Preliminary findings suggest the driver of the cargo truck may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

Reports also indicate he was unaware that it was raining at the time of the crash, raising concerns about driver fatigue and road awareness during adverse weather conditions.
