Springfield to begin appraisal of Afina-1x Well with Deepsea Bollsta Rig

Springfield Exploration and Production Ltd. is set to commence appraisal of the Afina-1x well in the West Cape Three Points Block 2 (WCTP-2) offshore Ghana this month.
The company has contracted Northern Ocean Limited’s (NOL) Deepsea Bollsta rig to lead the appraisal, marking a significant step towards advancing oil production in the region.
In collaboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and its subsidiary GNPC Explorco, Springfield aims to finalize the unitization of the Afina and Sankofa fields.
This process is expected to bring substantial value to the government of Ghana and all stakeholders involved in the project.
The appraisal and well test will commence in October, supported by various blue-chip service providers, both local and international, who will offer technical and operational assistance.
Commenting on the project, Kevin Okyere, CEO of Springfield, expressed optimism about the company’s perseverance and its potential to inspire Ghanaians and youth across Africa.

Springfield’s renewed focus on Afina-1x follows a ruling by the International Court of Arbitration on July 8th, which directed the company to complete the unitization process.
In compliance with the ruling, Springfield swiftly secured the necessary rig and technical requirements to conduct the well test. “Springfield respects all judicial decisions, national and international,” Okyere added.
This drilling campaign, which Springfield is pioneering as the first independent African company to operate in deep water, holds historic significance.
If successful, Springfield will also become the first independent African producer operating in deep water, according to Okyere. The campaign is seen as a milestone for the company and Ghana’s oil industry.
