The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed the arrest of a soldier filmed assaulting two civilians at a pharmacy in Burma Camp.
A statement issued by the Department of Public Relations and signed by Naval Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director-General, said the arrest was effected by Ghana Military Police personnel at dawn on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
According to the statement, the soldier is currently assisting with investigations, while the victims have received medical attention and are also supporting the inquiry.
The Ghana Armed Forces assured the public of its commitment to uphold discipline and stated it would not shield any personnel involved in acts of assault against civilians.
This comes after a viral video showed a man, alleged to be a soldier in civilian clothing, physically assaulting pharmacy workers and a customer at a drug store located within Burma Camp, Accra.
According to eyewitness accounts, the altercation began after the man demanded a refund of GHS65 for medication he had earlier sent a boy to purchase.
When the attendants explained that refunds could not be issued for opened drugs, the man reportedly became furious and attacked them.
In the video circulating on social media, the man is seen slapping a female customer before punching a male worker in the stomach and striking him across the face.
