Two social media users arrested by the police over separate offences have been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court. TikTok personality Prince Ofori, popularly known as Fante Comedy, and social media activist Daniel Adomako, widely known as Sir Obama Pokuase, were arrested in unrelated cases that have generated widespread public interest.

The court granted bail late in the day.

As a result, both remained in police custody overnight while the necessary procedural arrangements for their release were finalised.

Fante Comedy granted GH¢100,000 bail

In the first case, the court granted Fante Comedy bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed.

As part of his bail conditions, the court ordered him to deposit his passport with the police until further notice.

The TikTok personality was arrested on Tuesday, August 12, together with two other suspects, over allegations of issuing a death threat and publishing false news related to the August 6 helicopter crash.

The matter is scheduled for its next hearing on August 25, 2025.

Sir Obama Pokuase is facing weapons charges

In a separate development, Sir Obama Pokuase was granted bail of GH¢50,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be salaried workers.

One surety must be a government employee earning not less than GH¢3,000 monthly.

He was arrested on Wednesday, August 13, during an intelligence-led operation targeting the illegal possession and display of sophisticated weapons.

According to the police, the activist is assisting with investigations into videos and images allegedly shared on social media showing individuals brandishing high-grade firearms.

Police recover cache of illegal weapons

The Ghana Police Service, working in collaboration with other security agencies, says the arrest forms part of broader operations to dismantle criminal networks involved in arms trafficking. ‘

Investigators have so far recovered a significant quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition.
