Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney LTD, Shaibu Haruna, has called on Mobile Money Agents across the country to see themselves not just as business operators, but as “Chief Efficiency Officers”, trusted leaders driving excellence, integrity, and impact in their communities.

Speaking at the Mobile Money Advocacy Group, Ghana (MoMAG) Capacity Building Workshop held at the University of Ghana Business School, Mr. Haruna delivered a thought-provoking address on “Leadership Efficiency for Mobile Money Agents,” emphasising that agents play a critical role in advancing digital financial inclusion and empowering communities.

Haruna highlighted that MoMo Agents are community leaders, trusted custodians of customer funds, and business leaders who provide essential financial services that enable individuals, businesses, and communities to thrive.

“You are not just doing a transactional job; you are enabling lives and livelihoods. You are community leaders, trusted with people’s hard-earned money, and the information you share shapes decisions and confidence in our ecosystem,” he stated.

Mr. Haruna underscored that effective leadership requires MoMo agents to combine clear vision, customer centricity, integrity, collaboration, and continuous learning to build sustainable businesses.

Mr. Haruna further stressed the need for leadership effectiveness and operational efficiency to co-exist for business sustainability.

“Let’s go back to our communities not just as Mobile Money Agents, but as CEOs — leading with excellence, precision, and agility. Be the ‘Chief Efficiency Officer’ of your business and a model of trusted leadership,” he concluded.

The capacity-building workshop covered a broad range of subjects crucial for modern mobile money operations, including strengthening leadership and operational efficiency, preventing fraud and robbery in the line of duty, understanding the role of banks and financial partners, preparing for financial security and retirement, enhancing record-keeping and financial literacy, and fulfilling tax obligations as responsible business operators and partners

The sessions were facilitated by experts from the Ghana Police Service, Bank of Ghana, Deloitte Ghana, and Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), providing participants with practical insights and tools to enhance their operations and business resilience.

The workshop brought together over 200 mobile money agents from across Ghana for a day of learning, engagement, and skill development.

MoMAG presented two citations, one to the MobileMoney LTD CEO and one to MTN Ghana, in recognition of their significant support and commitment to the agent network.
