Ghanaian international music icon and four-time Grammy nominee Rocky Dawuni lit up the stage with his signature Afro Roots sound at the ASOHOM Diplomatic Charity Fashion Gala held in Accra.
The event, organised by the Association of Spouses of Heads of Missions in Ghana and International Organisations (ASOHOM) in partnership with MTN Ghana, brought together members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, and creatives for an evening of fashion, philanthropy, and world-class entertainment.
Rocky Dawuni’s electrifying performance was the highlight of the night, with his soulful rhythms and socially conscious lyrics captivating guests and setting a tone of unity and celebration.
Diplomats and dignitaries were seen swaying and cheering as he delivered a set that blended African heritage with contemporary flair.
A major attraction of the gala was the fashion showcase, featuring stunning collections from some of Ghana’s top designers and emerging talents.
Models of diverse shapes, sizes, and backgrounds strutted confidently down the runway in designs by Seemee, Victoria Grace, Yaayaa, and Complex Department, among others — each brand infusing creativity with a touch of cultural pride.
Speaking in an interview, President of ASOHOM and spouse of the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Malika Mene, explained that the fashion gala was not only a celebration of art and culture but also a fundraiser dedicated to advancing social causes in Ghana.
“This year’s Diplomatic Fashion Gala aims to raise funds for selected non-governmental organisations that are providing real solutions to pressing societal challenges,” she said. “It’s about using creativity and community to make a tangible difference in people’s lives.”
She revealed that ASOHOM, which has quietly operated in Ghana for over four decades, brings together spouses of heads of diplomatic missions and international organisations to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“Recognising our collective strength, we wanted to organise a major fundraiser to support projects that align with two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) we’re passionate about — gender equality and poverty reduction,” she noted.
She noted that beyond the glamour, the gala served as a bridge between the diplomatic and Ghanaian communities — uniting them for a shared humanitarian purpose.
“A gala like this is a beautiful way to connect cultures, celebrate diversity, and extend a hand to those in need,” she said.
“We’re deeply grateful to our members, sponsors, and partners like MTN Ghana, whose support continues to make these initiatives possible.”
The ASOHOM Diplomatic Charity Fashion Gala 2025 not only showcased Ghana’s creative excellence but also reaffirmed the power of collaboration, compassion, and cultural diplomacy in driving positive change.
