President Akufo-Addo saddened by Kantamanto Market fire

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating fire that struck Kantamanto Market on January 2, 2025.
Addressing Parliament during his State of the Nation Address, the President acknowledged the profound impact on traders whose livelihoods have been destroyed.
“My thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and I extend heartfelt sympathies to the hardworking traders who have lost their goods and investments,” he said.
The fire, which ravaged a section of the market, caused losses amounting to millions of cedis and tragically claimed one life.
President Akufo-Addo assured the nation of the government’s commitment to supporting the victims and determining the cause of the fire. “The government stands with you and will work with relevant agencies to ascertain the causes of the fire and provide the needed support,” he stated.
He urged Ghanaians to unite in compassion and solidarity during this challenging time. “Together, we can extend a helping hand to our fellow Ghanaians in need,” he concluded.
