Police service refutes claims of neglecting wounded officer

The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that it has neglected its wounded officer, Police Inspector Alfred N. Kuuzaa, who sustained gunshot wounds on December 7, 2024, at Atebubu in the Bono East Region while returning home after the general election.
Inspector Kuuzaa is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
A statement said, “The Ghana Police Service wishes to refute a social media publication alleging that the Service has neglected Police Inspector Alfred N. Kuuzaa, who is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, after sustaining gunshot wounds from an attack while returning from the December 2024 general elections at Atebubu in the Bono East Region.”

Support and liaison provided
The statement confirmed that since the incident, the Police Service has taken all necessary steps to ensure that the injured officer received the best possible medical care.
“We have strictly followed all the instructions and directions of the attending medical team, and our colleague has successfully undergone the required surgeries, all fully covered by the Police Administration under the Police Emergency Medical Intervention Fund (PERMIF),” the statement added.
Furthermore, the Ashanti Regional Police Director of Welfare has been working closely with Inspector Kuuzaa’s family and the medical team, providing essential support and serving as the primary liaison between the Police Service and the family.

False claims disputed by police
The Ghana Police Service categorically stated that the publication alleging neglect of their colleague is false, urging the public to disregard and treat the claims with contempt.
“We take this opportunity to wish our colleague a speedy recovery and salute all Police officers who continue to put their lives on the line to ensure that our country continues to be at peace with itself,” the statement concluded.
