The Tema Regional Police Command has shot and killed three suspected robbers while foiling an attempted robbery at Community 24, within the Adjei-Kojo area of the Ashaiman Division.

A police statement signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs of the Tema Regional Police Command, said the incident occurred on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at about 01:30 hours, when the Ashaiman Divisional Police Intelligence Team received information about an ongoing robbery at a private residence in the area.

The statement said a police team was immediately dispatched to the scene, where officers encountered six young men wearing face masks and hoodies, and armed with machetes, firearms and other offensive weapons.

“The suspects opened fire on the police, who returned the fire. During the exchange of gunfire, three of the suspects were fatally wounded and later succumbed to their injuries, while the remaining three suspects, believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, managed to flee the scene,” the statement said.

It said police retrieved three face masks, three machetes, and one unregistered Royal 125 motorbike from the scene.

According to the statement, the bodies of the deceased suspects had been conveyed to the Police Hospital for preservation, identification and autopsy, while hospitals and health facilities within the area had been alerted to notify the police through the emergency lines should any male persons present with gunshot wounds.

The Tema Regional Police Command commended the officers involved in the operation and urged the public to continue supporting the police with timely information to help maintain peace and security.
