The Ghana Police Service has apprehended Fatawu Ibrahim, also known as Fatau Motorway, who was declared wanted in connection with the violent disturbances that took place at Maamobi in Accra.
He is currently in police custody and is expected to be brought before court shortly.
Arrest following NPP-NDC clashes
The disturbance occurred on October 13, 2024, during a political campaign walk involving supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Tensions escalated between the two groups, resulting in a violent clash.
In the aftermath of the incident, Fatau Motorway was seen in video footage wielding a firearm, prompting the police to issue a GH₵20,000 bounty for credible information leading to his arrest.
Prior arrests and injuries
Before Fatau Motorway’s arrest, one individual had already been taken into custody in connection with the chaos.
Nine victims who sustained injuries during the clash were treated and discharged from the hospital.
Legal proceedings
The case is being handled by the Office of the Attorney General, and authorities are working to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable for the disturbance.
