The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with a kidnapping incident at Wapuli in the Yendi Division, following a series of intelligence-led operations that included a gun battle and the rescue of the victim.
The arrests were made on December 6, 2025, after police tracked the suspects to Bokpaba, a community along the Bimbila–Yendi stretch.
The suspects — Haruna Seidu, 31; Amidu Bandi, 30; and Osman Bandi, 40 — were picked up during a dawn operation.
Police also recovered two motorbikes, one with registration number M 25 GB 1026 and another unregistered, as well as GH₵70,000, believed to be part of the ransom paid by the victim’s family.
The arrest of the kidnappers followed an earlier confrontation. In the early hours of December 6, at about 12:30 a.m., a police intelligence team engaged the kidnapping gang — believed to be four in number — in an exchange of gunfire.

The kidnappers fled the scene, abandoning a motorbike with registration number M 25 NR and a Samsung mobile phone, both of which were retrieved and sent to the Yendi Divisional Police Headquarters.
One suspect, believed to have sustained gunshot wounds during the shootout, remains at large. Police describe him as armed and dangerous, and a search is ongoing.
The operations were launched after the kidnapping was reported to the Tamale Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) on December 2, 2025, at around 9:30 a.m.
According to the police situation report, the kidnappers had demanded GH₵100,000 from the victim’s family as ransom.

Northern Regional Commander DCOP Wisdom Lavoe immediately deployed a five-member intelligence team from the Tamale RPID to Wapuli to conduct surveillance, rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
The victim was successfully rescued on December 5, a day before the armed confrontation and subsequent arrests.
Police say investigations are ongoing as efforts intensify to track down the remaining suspect.
