The Ghana Police Service has arrested 101 suspects in a series of coordinated operations targeting drug-related activities across several parts of Accra, including Circle, Adabraka, Achimota, Nungua, and other surrounding areas.
According to police sources, the arrests were made during intelligence-led swoops conducted by personnel from various police units as part of ongoing efforts to curb the sale, possession, and use of illegal drugs within the metropolis.

The operations focused on identified hotspots believed to be hubs for drug peddling and consumption form part of a special Christmas operation.

Items suspected to be narcotic substances, including dried plant materials believed to be cannabis and other substances yet to be fully identified, were retrieved from some of the suspects during the exercise.

The exhibits have been secured and will be forwarded for forensic analysis to aid investigations.
The suspects, comprising both males and females, are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. Those found culpable will be processed and put before the court in accordance with the law.

The Police Service reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order, noting that drug-related crimes pose a significant threat to community security, especially among the youth.

Residents were encouraged to support police efforts by providing timely information on criminal activities in their neighbourhoods.

Police authorities also warned individuals involved in drug trafficking and related offences to desist from such activities, stressing that sustained operations will continue across the country to clamp down on crime and enhance public safety.
