Parliament approves first batch of ministerial nominees

In a significant move, Parliament has approved President John Dramani Mahama’s first batch of ministerial nominees, following a thorough vetting and debate process.
The approved nominees were Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, as Minister for Finance; Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, as Minister for Energy and Dr Dominic Akruitinga Ayine as Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
The Appointments Committee of Parliament conducted the vetting of the three approved ministers on Monday, January 13 evaluating the nominees’ qualifications, experiences, and vision for their respective roles.
After presenting its report to the House, the plenary deliberations sparked extensive discussions on the nominees’ competence and plans for addressing national challenges.
Mr Andrew Amoako Asiamah, the Second Deputy Speaker who was presiding over proceedings, announced the approval on the floor of the House.
The approval of these nominees marks a crucial step in President Mahama’s efforts to build a team capable of delivering on his administration’s priorities. With their ministerial roles now confirmed, Dr Forson, Mr Jinapor, and Dr Ayine are set to play key roles assigned to them.
