A bee attack on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpandai constituency of the Northern Region has left one person dead and several others injured on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The incident reportedly occurred during a political gathering when a swarm of bees suddenly attacked people at the venue, causing panic and forcing attendees to flee for safety.
Witnesses said the victim collapsed after being stung multiple times and was rushed to a nearby health facility, where he was pronounced dead.
The NDC’s Kpandai Constituency Secretary, Robert, said the incident occurred shortly after the party had concluded its campaign activities.
According to him, the deceased—identified as a traditional leader from one of the communities in the district—was riding a motorbike when he was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees.
Amid the panic that followed, the victim reportedly got off the motorbike and attempted to escape but was beaten to death during the confusion.
While some residents have attributed the incident to spiritual causes, describing it as a curse, authorities have not commented on such claims. Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The development comes at a time of heightened political activity in Kpandai, following the Electoral Commission’s decision to conduct a parliamentary election rerun on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The rerun was ordered after a High Court ruling annulled the results of the 2024 parliamentary election over irregularities in the collation process.
The contest is expected to involve the same candidates from the 2024 polls, with both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stepping up campaign efforts ahead of the rerun.
