Flagbearer hopefuls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have picked their positions on the ballot paper ahead of the party’s much-anticipated presidential primary slated for January 31, 2026.

The ballot exercise was held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the NPP headquarters in Accra, was conducted under the supervision of the party’s National Elections Committee in accordance with electoral guidelines issued on July 29.

Former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong secured the number one spot, taking the top position on the ballot. He was followed by Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Food and Agriculture, who picked the second slot.

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, regarded by many as a leading contender in the race, drew the third position. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Education Minister, and Kwabena Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the party, picked the fourth and fifth slots, respectively.

The event marks a major milestone in the NPP’s internal election process as the party gears up to elect a new flagbearer to lead it into the 2028 general elections.

This is the order of arrangement on the ballot paper:

Kennedy Agyapong — 1

Dr Bryan Acheampong — 2

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia — 3

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum — 4

Kwabena Agyepong — 5
