The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a scathing rebuttal to recent pronouncements by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi and his Bono counterpart, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, describing their utterances as reckless, misleading, and wholly unrepresentative of the Party’s ideals.

In a statement signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP warned the public and its stakeholders to disregard the “unguarded comments,” stressing that no individual — regardless of status or influence — wields unilateral authority over the compilation of polling station albums.

“The process is governed strictly by established rules and compliance procedures, which cannot be bent to suit personal whims or parochial interests,” the statement declared.

Kodua Frimpong assured that the National Secretariat will, in due course, release clear and transparent guidelines to safeguard integrity and fairness at every stage of the exercise.

He urged polling station executives and party faithful to treat such misleading pronouncements with “the utmost contempt they deserve.”

The party also flatly dismissed claims by Antwi Boasiako that the January 31, 2026, presidential primaries were deliberately fixed to favour a particular aspirant. Leadership described the allegation as “false, mischievous, and without merit.”

According to the statement, the National Council — the Party’s highest decision-making body — deliberated exhaustively before selecting the date.

“No single individual can manipulate or dictate the will of the Party’s supreme body,” the leadership asserted.

Explaining the rationale, the NPP said the early congress was a strategic choice to give the Party ample time to reorganise, reposition, and prepare decisively to reclaim power in 2028.

Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, the NPP stressed that its leadership will continue to uphold the highest standards of credibility, transparency, and discipline in all electoral processes.

“The NPP remains unshakably committed to fairness and integrity. No amount of propaganda or reckless talk will derail the Party from its chosen path,” the statement concluded.
