NPA, NIA, GNPC, others get new Bosses

President John Mahama has named new appointees to lead several state institutions, a move aimed at bolstering leadership in critical sectors.
The newly appointed officials bring diverse expertise to their respective roles, with their appointments reflecting a blend of technical expertise, experience, and political considerations.

Edudzi Tamaklo – Acting CEO, National Petroleum Authority (NPA)
Godwin Edudzi Tamaklo, the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), assumes the role of Acting CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
With a solid legal background and extensive experience in regulatory affairs, Mr. Tamaklo is expected to strengthen the NPA’s role as a regulator in the petroleum industry.
Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Mr. Tamaklo pledged to enhance operational efficiency and transparency at the NPA, assuring Ghanaians of his dedication to the role.

Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku – Acting CEO, NIA
Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku has been named Acting CEO of the National Identification Authority (NIA), succeeding Prof. Kenneth Attafuah.
Having begun his career at the NIA as a temporary Technical Officer in 2008, Mr. Deku’s appointment signifies a remarkable career trajectory within the organization.
In a statement, he expressed his gratitude to President Mahama and committed to advancing the Authority’s mandate.
His leadership comes at a crucial time as the NIA continues to implement national identification initiatives critical to development planning.

Justina Nelson – Acting CEO, MIIF
Justina Nelson takes over as Acting CEO of MIIF, bringing a wealth of experience in finance and the mining sector.
Currently a Group Head at Zenith Bank, she has expertise in energy and commercial banking, along with significant leadership roles in both public and private institutions.
Her extensive academic background, including degrees in law and business administration, positions her to steer MIIF toward maximizing Ghana’s mineral wealth for national benefit.

Dr. Kweku Asiedu Nketia – Acting Deputy CEO, MIIF
Dr. Kweku Asiedu Nketia, son of NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has been appointed Acting Deputy CEO of MIIF. With his strong academic credentials and familiarity with policy-making, Dr. Nketia is expected to play a key role in ensuring the Fund achieves its objectives.

Afetsi Awoonor – Acting MD of BEST
Afetsi Awoonor brings unparalleled experience in energy, oil, gas, and mining to his role as Acting MD Bulk Energy Storage and Transportation (BEST) Company Limited, formerly known as BOST.
With a career spanning over 20 African countries, Mr. Awoonor is renowned for executing transformative projects and fostering partnerships within the energy sector.
His global reputation as a strategic thinker and sustainability advocate positions him to enhance BOST’s operational performance and drive its contributions to Ghana’s energy security.

Prof. Nana Ama Browne Klutse – Acting CEO of EPA
Professor Nana Ama Browne Klutse assumes leadership of the EPA during a critical time for environmental sustainability in Ghana.
A climate scientist and academic, Prof. Klutse has been vocal about addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, air quality, and illegal mining.
She expressed gratitude to President Mahama, pledging to work tirelessly to ensure Ghana’s environmental policies meet global standards.

Edward Abambire Bawa–Acting CEO, GNPC
Edward Abambire Bawa steps into the role of Acting CEO at Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), with his appointment made in line with constitutional and statutory guidelines.

Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle – Acting CEO, Petroleum Commission
Victoria Hardcastle, an experienced lawyer with a background in energy economics, has been appointed Acting CEO of the Petroleum Commission.
Her previous roles include serving on the Commission’s Board and working as Deputy Head of the Economic Section at the Swiss Embassy.

Abdul-Salam – Acting CEO, NLA
Mohammed Abdul-Salam takes over as Acting CEO of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), with his appointment awaiting final approvals. He is tasked with ensuring the Authority operates efficiently while contributing to national revenue generation.

Sammy Gyamfi – Acting MD, PMMC
Sammy Gyamfi, National Communications Officer for the NDC, has been appointed Acting MD of Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).
His mandate includes the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), a key initiative of the Mahama Administration aimed at formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector.
A lawyer and economic policy analyst, Mr. Gyamfi’s academic achievements include an MA in Economic Policy Management and a Barrister at Law Certificate.
His expertise will be crucial in revitalizing Ghana’s gold industry.
