Staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have donated GH¢800,000 to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as MahamaCares, to support the Fund in achieving its objectives.

The cheque was presented on behalf of the staff by the Chief Executive of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, at a brief ceremony held at the offices of the Fund in Accra.

Dr. Bampoe said the donation was a voluntary contribution from Authority staff who strongly believe in the vision behind the Fund’s establishment.

“We believe in the vision of the President in setting up this Fund. We know it is something we must support, and we are proud of the work being done here at the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.

“Staff of NHIA decided, of their own volition, to come together to contribute their widow’s mite in support of the noble effort of the President and yourself,” Dr. Bampoe stated.

Appreciation

Receiving the cheque, the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Ms. Obuobia Darko Opoku, expressed profound appreciation to the NHIA for its continued support since the establishment of the Fund.

She highlighted the technical, human resource, and financial assistance the Fund has received from the Authority over the period.

“We want to appreciate you this morning and let you know that your efforts have brought us this far, and we know that your continued support will push us to even greater heights,” she said.

Ms. Darko Opoku noted that without the NHIA’s consistent support, the Fund would not have reached its current level of progress.

She also prayed for a stronger and more fruitful partnership between the two institutions in the years ahead.

“We are because you are, and we are very grateful,” she added.

Team

Dr Bampoe was accompanied by some members of the Executive Management, including the Deputy CEO in charge of Administration and Human Resource, Mr Raphael Segkpeb, Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Investment, Ms. Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri, Director of Administration, Mr Raymond Avinu, Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Oswald Essuah-Mensah, and Director of Human Resource, Ms Auch Angela Dedenamo.
