NDC, NPP to hold final rallies in Accra on Thursday

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), are set to bring their months-long campaigns to a conclusion with simultaneous rallies in Accra on Thursday, December 5, just two days before voters head to the polls.

NDC at Madina Zurak Park
The NDC will host its final rally, themed “Resetting Ghana – Let’s Finish Strong”, at Zurak Park in Madina starting at noon.
According to the party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, the event is expected to be “epoch-making,” as it seeks to energize supporters and underline the party’s vision for change.
“The rally will focus on addressing the nation’s economic challenges, tackling corruption, and offering a fresh start under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama,” Mr. Gyamfi said in a statement.
He urged all party members, sympathizers, and the general public to attend what he described as a defining moment for the campaign.

NPP at UG Sports Directorate Park
The ruling NPP will simultaneously hold its “Possibilities Victory Rally” at the University of Ghana’s Sports Directorate Park, near the UG Sports Stadium.
Designed to showcase the achievements of the Akufo-Addo administration and the vision of the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the rally is expected to draw a massive crowd.
The event will feature prominent NPP figures, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and vice-presidential candidate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Describing the rally as a “historic programme,” NPP National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye said it aims to inspire the party’s supporters and win over undecided voters.
The NPP is banking on its record in economic management, infrastructure, and social interventions like the Free SHS program to convince Ghanaians to extend its mandate.

A high-stakes day in Accra
The decision by both parties to hold their final rallies in Accra on the same day underscores the intensity of the 2024 election campaign.
The Greater Accra Region, considered a key battleground, is expected to see significant turnout at both events, which will dominate national media coverage.
Political analysts see the rallies as crucial for both parties to solidify their messages and mobilize support.
