The Nandom Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Anthony Ziniel, has cut sod for the construction of office buildings for the Nandom Municipal Health and Agriculture Directorates.
The project, which is being funded under the District Assembly Common Fund Responsive Factor Grant (DACFRFG), marks a major milestone in the implementation of the Assembly’s medium and long-term development plans.
The total contract sum for the project is GH₵1,033,474.
Addressing stakeholders at the event, the MCE highlighted the importance of the project in strengthening the administrative capacity of the two essential directorates. He expressed optimism that the initiative would improve service delivery in the municipality.
The Danko Naa, Naa Bernard Niyel, also spoke at the event and commended the Assembly for siting the project in his community. He called for community support to ensure its successful completion.
Municipal Director Engineer, Mr. Bright Kpabitey, explained that the DACFRFG is an annual performance-based grant that supports the implementation of policies and plans of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Mr. Kpabitey noted that although the original design is a one-storey building, limited funding means only the ground floor will be constructed at this stage.
The ground floor will house ten offices, washrooms, a fully furnished interior, and a conference hall to host meetings and other official activities.
He added that the construction is expected to be completed within eight calendar months, with a handover scheduled for December 2025.
“Funds for the project are already available. The responsibility now lies with us—the supervising department, contractor, and other stakeholders—to ensure the work is done on time,” he stated.
The contract has been awarded to GabSeb Enterprise. Its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sebastian Gan, pledged to prioritize the recruitment of local labour.
“As part of my policy as the contractor, I’ll be picking the workers from the Danko community where the project is located,” he assured.
The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by officials of the Municipal Assembly, traditional leaders, residents of Danko, and other stakeholders.
The project is expected to boost morale and efficiency among health and agricultural workers in the municipality while promoting community participation in local development.
