Manchester City have secured the signing of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth in a £64 million deal, bolstering Pep Guardiola’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
The 26-year-old has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers, delivering goals, versatility, and a relentless work rate throughout an impressive campaign.
His displays attracted interest from multiple top clubs, but City moved quickly to secure his signature.
Semenyo is expected to provide depth across the front line, with Guardiola known for valuing forwards capable of playing multiple roles.
The Ghanaian international can operate as a central striker, on either wing, or in deeper attacking positions — a flexibility that fits seamlessly with City’s fluid style of play.
City struck an agreement with Bournemouth outside Semenyo’s £65 million release clause, paying a guaranteed £62.5 million, with an additional £1.5 million in performance-related bonuses and a 10% sell-on clause.
Although the guaranteed element of the release clause was £60 million, Bournemouth will receive the slightly higher fixed fee, payable in installments over 24 months.
The Premier League champions successfully fended off competition from Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham to secure the Ghanaian international.
City expressed excitement about the signing, describing Semenyo as a player with explosive pace, sharp decision-making, and the mentality to excel at the highest level.
Semenyo himself said he was “thrilled” to join the reigning champions and is eager to compete for silverware.
His arrival adds further firepower to a squad already featuring Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Julián Álvarez, giving City even more attacking options as they aim to defend their domestic and European titles.
The deal represents another significant step in Semenyo’s rise — from Bristol City prospect to Premier League standout, and now a Manchester City player poised to make a major impact.
