Mahama pledges national dialogue on education reform

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has announced plans to initiate a comprehensive national dialogue on education if elected in the upcoming election.
This initiative, he says, will address pressing issues such as food shortages, restrictions on school administrators’ free speech, and the lack of essential amenities in schools.
Speaking to religious leaders in Kumasi on Monday, November 11, Mahama stressed the importance of an inclusive approach to education reform.
He highlighted the lack of textbooks, inadequate school infrastructure, and a shortage of basic resources as core challenges hindering the sector’s growth.
“Our education sector is at a crossroads,” Mahama said. “To truly address these issues, we need to engage in open dialogue with the stakeholders at the heart of educational policy implementation.”
If elected, Mahama’s proposed national dialogue aims to bring together teachers, administrators, parents, and policymakers to collaboratively address the longstanding obstacles facing Ghana’s educational system.
