President John Dramani Mahama has announced the appointment of 18 new Deputy Heads of Mission to Ghana’s diplomatic missions across the world, in a move aimed at strengthening the nation’s international relations and advancing its foreign policy objectives.

In a letter dated September 11, 2025, the President directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to facilitate the formalisation of these appointments.

Among the notable appointees are General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, former Chief of Defence Staff, who has been assigned as Deputy Head of Mission to Canada, and Ben Dotsei Malor, a former Presidential Communications Advisor, who will serve in the United States of America.

Other appointees include:

  • Dr Palmer Appiah-Gyan – Germany

  • Francisca Patoah Gyarko – Switzerland

  • Harry Zevon – China

  • Sulemana Ibun Iddrissu – India

  • Aquinas Quansah – United Kingdom

  • George Harrison – South Korea

  • Jamilatu Amadu – United Arab Emirates

  • Emmanuel Netsey-Afedo – Netherlands

  • Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku – Italy

  • Francis Thalamus Doe – Japan

  • Sanni Jajah – Saudi Arabia

  • Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor – Türkiye

  • Emmanuel Kamban Panyan – Russia

  • Alhaji Mohammed Seidu Issah Abah – South Africa

  • Mohammed Ibn Abass – Egypt

  • Rev. Isaac Clive Mould – Denmark

According to the statement, the appointments of the heads of mission by Mahama form part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance Ghana’s diplomatic presence, strengthen bilateral cooperation, and deepen engagement with strategic global partners across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

President Mahama has further directed that all administrative processes be expedited to enable the appointees to assume their respective duties without delay.
