Local Union of GPHA congratulates new GPHA Ag. D-G

The Local Union of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Brigadier-General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono on his appointment as the Acting Director-General of GPHA.
In a statement, Emmanuel Arhin, Local Union Chairman of GPHA, expressed confidence in Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono’s leadership, highlighting his vast experience and dedication to public service.
The union believes his expertise will be instrumental in driving growth, enhancing operations, and improving the welfare of Ghanaian port workers.
“This appointment is a testament to Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono’s exceptional leadership skills, extensive knowledge, and unwavering commitment to service. We have no doubt that under his stewardship, GPHA will witness remarkable improvements,” the statement read.
The union further pledged its support and cooperation, assuring the newly appointed Acting Director-General of its readiness to collaborate in addressing the challenges confronting the industry.
“We look forward to working closely with Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono to promote the welfare of our members and contribute to the overall development of Ghana’s economy,” Mr. Arhin stated.
Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono’s appointment by President John Dramani Mahama marks a strategic move aimed at strengthening the GPHA’s operations.
He brings a wealth of experience from both military and legal fields, having served in various leadership capacities, including Deputy Commandant of the National College of Defence Studies (NCDS) at Burma Camp, Accra.
A distinguished military officer and legal expert, Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the George Washington School of Law, a Master’s in Management Studies from Osmania University in India, and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the University of Ghana.
He was called to the Ghanaian Bar in 2015 and has undergone military training at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the United States Army Command and Staff College, and the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Throughout his career, Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono has played pivotal roles in defense and security management.
His previous assignments include serving as Chief Coordinator at NCDS, Assistant Commandant at the Training and Doctrine Command, and Deputy Director-General of Training at GHQ.
He has also been actively involved in peacekeeping missions, serving as Deputy Force Provost Marshall and Officer in Charge of Special Investigations at UNIFIL Headquarters.
With expertise in counterterrorism, strategic defense management, and operational training, his appointment is expected to enhance GPHA’s strategic direction and operational effectiveness.
The Local Union of GPHA remains optimistic about the future of the Authority under Brigadier-General Tanye-Kulono’s leadership and wishes him success in his new role.
