Kufuor touts Bawumia’s credentials as ideal leader for Ghana

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has thrown his weight behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best candidate to lead Ghana, highlighting his technical expertise and visionary leadership.
In a recent interview, Kufuor praised Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to addressing the nation’s challenges and his innovative approach to governance, which he believes will drive Ghana’s progress and development.

Championing digital transformation
Ex-President Kufuor emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s notable achievements in digitalization, which he described as transformative for key sectors of Ghana’s economy.
He commended Dr. Bawumia’s recent pledge to train one million youth in digital skills, calling it a “forward-thinking solution to unemployment” and a critical step towards preparing Ghana’s young workforce for a digital economy.
“This is the kind of leadership Ghana needs. Empowering the youth with digital skills will not only create jobs but also position Ghana as a leader in technology across Africa,” Ex-President Kufuor stated

Railways for national development
The former President also applauded Dr. Bawumia’s railway development agenda, particularly his vision for a rail line from Tema through Boankra to the northern regions.
Ex-President Kufuor noted that this project would be instrumental in reducing transportation costs, promoting trade, and accelerating industrialization, especially by tapping into Ghana’s iron deposits.
He called it a “game-changer” that could transform Ghana’s infrastructure landscape.
“A robust railway system, as Dr. Bawumia envisions, is the right direction for Ghana,” Ex-President Kufuor said, emphasizing how improved infrastructure could lead to nationwide economic benefits.

A unifying leader for all Ghanaians
In addition to his technical acumen, Ex-President Kufuor lauded Dr. Bawumia’s inclusive leadership style, noting his ability to connect with Ghanaians across various demographics.
Ex-President Kufuor described Dr. Bawumia as “a leader of ideas” who fosters national unity, inclusivity, and cohesion, qualities he believes are essential for Ghana’s next leader.
“I have observed his good conduct and unifying spirit,” Ex-President Kufuor said, commending Dr Bawumia’s approach to leadership as one that promotes peace and inclusivity.
Ex-President Kufuor’s endorsement is expected to strengthen Dr. Bawumia’s support within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and appeal to undecided voters.
With Kufuor’s backing, Bawumia’s platform of innovation, youth empowerment, and national unity may resonate more broadly among Ghanaians.
He expressed hope that the nation would “objectively weigh the needs of the coming years” and recognize Dr. Bawumia’s experience and astuteness as qualities essential for Ghana’s next leader, urging citizens not to succumb to apathy but to look forward with confidence.
