Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Ghana from Wednesday, July 2, to Thursday, July 3, 2025, as part of a diplomatic tour aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between India and African nations.

This visit marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Ghana in over a decade, and it comes at a time when both countries are seeking to deepen cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, energy, technology, and health.

During his two-day visit, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold high-level talks with President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The two leaders are anticipated to discuss key strategic partnerships, review existing agreements, and sign new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in sectors of mutual interest.

The Indian Prime Minister will also participate in a business forum involving Indian and Ghanaian investors, aimed at promoting private sector collaboration and investment opportunities.

Cultural and diplomatic engagements are also on the agenda, including meetings with the Indian diaspora in Ghana and a visit to historical landmarks that highlight the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

The statement, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP), Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, emphasised that the visit is expected to “strengthen bilateral ties, foster deeper economic cooperation, and solidify the bonds of friendship between the peoples of Ghana and India.”

India and Ghana share a longstanding relationship that spans decades, with cooperation in education, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and infrastructure development. Ghana continues to be one of India’s key partners in West Africa.

The visit is expected to further cement the friendship between the two countries and open new avenues for collaboration in line with shared development goals.
