A technical team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has concluded a follow-up mission to Ghana to support the Government’s implementation of key governance reforms.
The mission, held in Accra from December 8 to 11, 2025, was led by Ms Tina Burjaliani and included experts Mr Gomiluk Otokwala and Ms Nusula Nassuna.
It followed the publication of the IMF’s Governance Diagnostic Report for Ghana on November 3, 2025.
The report, requested by the Government, provides an assessment of governance and corruption vulnerabilities and outlines priority reforms to strengthen public financial management, revenue administration, property rights, public sector integrity and institutional transparency.
According to an IMF release, the mission focused on assisting the authorities as they began implementing the report’s key recommendations.
The team also worked to identify opportunities for coordinated support from Ghana’s international development partners.
During the visit, the IMF team held discussions with senior Government officials, civil society representatives and development partners.
The talks centred on prioritising follow-up actions, establishing implementation arrangements and exploring ways to sustain momentum behind the reforms.
The IMF said its staff would continue to work closely with the Ghanaian authorities and development partners in the coming months.
This collaboration will include integrating actions to address the governance recommendations within the framework of Ghana’s IMF-supported Extended Credit Facility programme.
