Haruna Iddrisu, Sukparu escape serious harm after car crash

Mr Haruna Iddrisu,  Minister of Education and Mr Mohammed Adams Sukparu, Deputy Minister for Communication and Digital Technology, have been airlifted to Wa, where they will be taken to Accra in a different flight.

This followed their involvement in an accident between Tumu and Bolgatanga.

The two Ministers were in stable conditions,  while the driver of the Minister who received various degrees of injuries was responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, Dr Joshua Amikiya Ayariga, who attended to the minister and the injured persons told the GNA that they were all in a stable condition and receiving attention.

The minister and his delegation were on their way to participate in the 40th anniversary celebration of the Tumu College of Education.

The accident occurred around 1100 hours on Thursday morning between Banu and Kunchokor on the Tumu-Navrongo Highway.

Mr Bening Adamu Yakubu, the Sissala East MCE told the GNA that he received a distressed call around 1100 hours that an accident occurred between  Banu and  Kunchokor involving two government officials.

Other sources told the GNA that the accident was said to have been caused by a motorist who crossed the convoy and in the process, the driver lost control due to the clog of dust, resulting in the accident.

Mr Alhassan Zakaria, the Education minister’s driver, who sustained a fracture in the hand is also responding to treatment.

The area is currently under construction by Mawums Construction Ltd following the cutting of sod by President John Dramani Mahama for the Big Push project.
