The Melcom Group of Companies has expressed its deep sorrow over the tragic loss of Ghana’s fallen military helicopter crash heroes, pledging to stand with the government and bereaved families during this difficult time.
Led by Group Managing Director, Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani, the company’s leadership visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration to sign the book of condolences in honour of the men who died while serving the nation.
“These are patriots who lost their lives, unfortunately, in the performance of their duties for the government,” Mr. Sadhwani said.
“As the whole nation mourns the devastating circumstances that caused this tragedy, we feel equally devastated by the loss of these gallant men. We cannot isolate ourselves from what is going on around us.”
Mr. Sadhwani noted that the Melcom Group has been part and parcel of Ghana’s economy for many years and considers itself deeply connected to the country’s people and their experiences.
Commitment to support fund
The Group Managing Director revealed that the company will consult the Board of Trustees of the Melcom Care Foundation to deliberate on ways the Group can contribute to the official support fund for the victims’ families.
“These are difficult times for President John Dramani Mahama and his government. We will explore meaningful ways to contribute to the fund, and we appeal to all Ghanaians to support it, especially to provide some relief to the government and the bereaved families,” he urged.
Praise for national solidarity and democratic maturity
On his part, Mr. Francis Sam, Group General Manager of Melcom, commended the government for creating avenues for the public to express sympathy and stand in solidarity with the affected families.
“This is an indication that democracy in the country has evolved and grown to the next level,” he said. “Ghanaians have shown admirable love for one another in this period of grief.”
Mr. Sam added that the Melcom Group will continue to grieve alongside the nation, expressing hope that such a tragedy will never occur again.
He called on other corporate bodies to embrace the support fund and help provide relief, especially for the children of the fallen heroes.
Ongoing corporate commitment
“We, as the Melcom Group of Companies, will continue to provide Ghanaians with the needed support as we mourn with the government and the families of our fallen heroes,” Mr. Sam assured.
The visit by the Melcom Group adds to the growing wave of solidarity from institutions, organisations, and individuals across Ghana as the nation honours the ultimate sacrifice made by its servicemen.
