Hearts of Oak midfielder Hussein Mohammed has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee for misconduct following his team’s 1-0 home defeat to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in a matchday nine encounter of the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League.

The GFA Disciplinary Committee, in a statement, said Hearts of Oak player Hussein confronted referee Reginald Collins Amoah in a disorderly manner at the end of regulation play.

This was after Hearts of Oak’s stoppage-time goal was ruled out for offside, sealing their first home loss of the season.

“It is alleged that the club failed to control its players after the final whistle when several confronted the referee in a disorderly manner,” the statement said.

Hearts of Oak were also charged for failing to control some of its supporters as objects were thrown on the field during the match.

“The club is further alleged to have allowed its supporters to throw objects onto the field of play, while Hussein Mohammed is alleged to have assaulted the match referee after the said game,” the statement said.

Hearts of Oak have until Tuesday, November 11, 2025, to respond to the charges before the disciplinary body delivers its verdict against the referee.

Asante Kotoko claimed a narrow 1–0 victory over arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in a tense and dramatic Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium, courtesy of Morifing Donzo’s first goal for the club.

The encounter attracted thousands of passionate fans, creating an electrifying atmosphere befitting Ghana’s greatest football rivalry. Kotoko started brightly, dictating play and pressing high.
