Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, on behalf of the government, has signed a US$30 million grant agreement with China to support the construction of a university in Damongo in the Savanna Region
The grant comes after the Finance Minister received the outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, in a meeting that underscored the strong and ongoing partnership between Ghana and China.

During the visit, the two sides marked a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation with the signing of a US$30 million grant agreement to support the construction of a university in Damongo.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama and the people of Ghana, Dr Forson expressed gratitude to Ambassador Tong for his dedicated service and his role in strengthening Ghana–China relations.

He also highlighted the importance of addressing exchange losses in bilateral trade, noting that it is logical for trade between Ghana and China to increasingly be settled in their respective currencies.

Concluding the meeting, Dr Forson wished Ambassador Tong Defa well in his future endeavours and expressed optimism for the continued growth and strengthening of relations between Ghana and China.
