GNPC’s Energy House as catalyst for operational efficiency

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Energy House in the Western Region, emphasizing its role as a catalyst for operational efficiency and economic development.

The President highlighted the government’s commitment to decentralization, ensuring all regions benefit from the country’s resources.
The GNPC Energy House, featuring a 300-seater conference room, offices, a cafeteria, and a business center, will serve the corporation and other petroleum sector players.
The seven-storey facility, located on over 11,000 square meters of land on Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) Lane in the Railway Harbour Electoral Area of Takoradi, began construction in August 2020 but faced logistical and financial challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these setbacks, the project has been successfully completed.
President Akufo-Addo commended the Western Regional Minister, local chiefs, the Lands Commission, GNPC leadership, contractors, and the project management team for their roles in achieving this milestone.
He underscored the Energy House’s potential to enhance sector activities, create job opportunities, and boost the region’s and country’s economic lives.
The facility is expected to stimulate business expansion, grow the hospitality sector, and drive economic development.
The President emphasized the need for a robust energy sector that adopts advanced skills and technologies, builds local talents’ capabilities, and fosters excellence, innovation, and hope in Ghana’s oil and gas industry.
He praised the GNPC Foundation for its focus on health, education, TVET, and sanitation, reflecting its mandate to promote human resource growth and development.
President Akufo-Addo also called for environmentally sustainable practices and social protection measures to ensure the industry’s longevity and benefit to future generations.
Herbert Krapa, Minister of State at the Energy Ministry, noted the continued success of various oil wells such as Jubilee, TEN, and Sankofa in exploration and extraction. He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working with stakeholders to strengthen oil production.
Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah acknowledged the government’s fulfillment of promises in education, health, and road infrastructure. The region now benefits from 2,000 kilometers of road projects, a significant increase in school enrollment due to the Free Senior High School initiative, and numerous hospital redevelopment and construction projects.
He lauded President Akufo-Addo for his dedication to the region, affectionately calling him “Addo Showboy” to the audience’s applause.
