Ghana is set to reinforce its position as a leading fintech hub in Africa by hosting the 14th Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) from October 8–10, 2025, in Accra.

This landmark Accra fintech event is expected to attract more than 1,500 fintech leaders, investors, and innovators from across the continent.

According to Foster Awintiti-Akubi, Head of Partnerships and Government Relations for the Africa Fintech Summit, the event is projected to inject approximately $1.3 million into the Ghanaian economy through hotel bookings, hospitality services, transportation, and other supporting sectors.

Speaking at a strategic event hosted by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Awintiti-Akubi emphasised that hosting the Africa Fintech Summit is a clear indicator of Ghana’s growing influence in the African fintech landscape.

The summit is not only a financial windfall but also a launchpad for long-term investment in Ghana’s fintech sector.

He noted that the event will offer a vital platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and cross-border collaborations, opening new opportunities for fintech startups and investors.

It will also position Ghana as a gateway for fintech investment in West Africa.

Ghana’s technology and fintech industry continues to gain global recognition.

In 2024, the country stood out as the only top-five African destination with positive venture capital growth, recording a 26% increase despite an overall decline in tech funding across the continent.

This upward trend is largely driven by Ghana’s innovative fintech solutions, especially in the area of digital payment systems.

The upcoming summit also marks the official partnership between the Africa Fintech Summit and GIPC, aimed at accelerating economic development through fintech innovation and digital finance strategies.

In support of this vision, the Bank of Ghana has called for stronger regional collaboration in fintech, emphasising the role of digital financial services in bridging economic gaps and increasing financial inclusion in underserved communities.

The central bank also highlighted the growing impact of cross-border digital payments in facilitating smoother trade and boosting intra-African commerce.

As Ghana prepares to welcome global fintech stakeholders to Accra in 2025, the Africa Fintech Summit promises to spotlight the country’s potential as a top fintech investment destination in Africa.
