The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has refuted circulating reports suggesting that cement prices have risen by GH¢6 across the country.

According to the Authority, no such adjustment has been recorded, and the claims do not reflect the current market situation.

In a statement, the GSA explained that recent price discussions circulating on social media and some news platforms were misleading, adding that no directive has been issued to adjust cement prices, and the Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, on which the GSA serve,s has not sanctioned any upward review.

It said “The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) wishes to inform the public that the notice circulating about a ¢6 price increment of cement on Monday, 19th January, 2026, is FALSE. The Cement Manufacturing Development Committee, which includes GSA, has not issued any such directive.

“We advise the public to be cautious of false information and verify with our official channels before taking any action.”

The Authority emphasised that it continues to monitor the market closely, especially within the cement industry, to ensure that consumers are protected from unfair pricing and misinformation.

The GSA urged the public to verify information from credible sources before sharing it. It also encouraged retailers and manufacturers to comply with proper pricing regulations and maintain transparency in their operations.

Cement remains a key material in Ghana’s construction sector, and concerns about price changes often generate public attention.

The Authority reassured consumers that any official price adjustments from certified producers would be communicated clearly through the appropriate channels.
