GFA calls emergency meeting to address incidents of hooliganism

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to meet with supporters of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) on Friday, February 7, 2025, to address issues of hooliganism.
Ghana football was dealt a massive blow over the weekend following the death of staunch Kotoko supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong popularly known as ‘Nana Pooley’ in Nsoatre over the weekend.
The GFA issued a statement calling on all leadership of GPL club supporters to attend the meeting to address safety concerns at all stadiums.
“Topics to be discussed include responsible fan behavior, conflict resolution strategies, and collaboration with stadium security personnel.
“Given the influence of supporters groups on fan behavior, the GFA recognizes the importance of engaging with their leadership to prevent future incidents.
“The meeting will provide a platform for open discussion and collaboration between the GFA and supporters groups.
“The GFA expects the supporters’ groups to respond with urgency to this invitation, as their participation is crucial in shaping a safer and more enjoyable football experience in Ghana,” the statement said.
Following the unfortunate incident, the GFA has temporarily banned Nana Kronamansah Park while instituting an investigation into events that happened on the day.
