The first term of the 2025/2026 academic year is set to begin on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, and will run until Thursday, December 18, 2025. Schools will then break for vacation from Friday, December 19, 2025, to Tuesday, January 7, 2026. A mid-term break is scheduled for October 31 to November 3, 2025.

The second term begins on Wednesday, January 8, 2026, and ends on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, followed by a vacation from April 2 to April 20, 2026. The third and final term will start on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, and end on Thursday, July 23, 2026.

Importantly, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been scheduled to take place from Monday, May 4 to Monday, May 11, 2026.

This timeline will give candidates ample time to prepare after the conclusion of the second term.

The GES emphasised that all public holidays that fall within the academic calendar will be observed as usual.

A two-day mid-term break will also be implemented in each term to provide rest for both students and teachers.

In the statement, the Service commended school administrators, teachers, parents, and students for their cooperation and hard work throughout the current academic year, which officially concludes on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

GES encouraged all stakeholders in the education sector to take note of the academic calendar and make the necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and productive 2025/2026 academic year.

The Service reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining academic stability and providing timely information to help schools operate effectively and in line with national education goals.
