The Serbian football world is in deep mourning following the sudden passing of Mladen Žižović, head coach of FK Radnički 1923, who passed away after suffering a heart attack.

The 44-year-old collapsed in the technical area just 22 minutes into his side’s Serbian Super League encounter with Mladost Lucani and later died in hospital.

Medical teams responded immediately and rushed him to the hospital, but despite urgent efforts, he could not be revived the coach from the heart attack.

The shocking incident forced officials to halt the match as players, staff, and supporters stood in disbelief.

The match was subsequently abandoned, and the Football Association of Serbia expressed deep sorrow over his untimely death, extending condolences to his family and the Radnički 1923 club.

FK Radnički 1923 paid tribute to Žižović, remembering him as a dedicated professional and an inspirational leader.

Coach heart attack

The Serbian Football Federation also extended heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and the entire football community, calling his death a major loss for the sport in the region.

Born in Rogatica on December 27, 1980, Žižović enjoyed a respected playing career as a midfielder before transitioning into coaching in 2017.

He worked with several clubs across the Balkans and the Middle East, building a strong reputation for discipline, tactical intelligence, and mentorship.

Žižović had a coaching career spanning several clubs, including stints at Zrinjski Mostar, Sloboda Tuzla, FC Shkupi, Borac Banja Luka, and Radnik Bijeljina, and was known for his tactical discipline and calm demeanour
