The Federation of Associations of Ghanaian Exporters (FAGE) demonstrated community spirit on Friday by providing complimentary refreshments to thousands of mourners who gathered at the Black Star Square for the state funeral of eight distinguished national heroes, including Dr. Omane Boamah and Dr. Murtala Mohammed.

The exporters’ association, in collaboration with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority and Joy FM, distributed free coconuts, freshly cut fruits, and fruit juices to the massive crowd that converged on the iconic venue to pay their final respects to the fallen heroes.

Key contributors to the project included Blue Skies, the Coconut Federation, and Cocobenz, whose support was instrumental in making the refreshment initiative possible.

Speaking about the initiative, FAGE President Davies Korboe explained that the decision to support the funeral proceedings was driven by a sense of national duty and practical concern for the well-being of attendees.

“We recognised that mourners would be spending over four hours at the ceremony, and it was important to ensure they remained nourished and properly hydrated throughout this solemn occasion,” Korboe stated.

The thoughtful gesture was well-received by the thousands who attended the state funeral, providing much-needed sustenance during the ceremony honouring the eight individuals who made significant contributions to the nation.

The collaboration between FAGE, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, and Joy FM exemplifies how private sector organisations, government agencies, and media houses can unite to serve the public during important national events.

The state funeral at Black Star Square drew massive crowds as citizens from across the country came to bid farewell to the eight distinguished personalities who had been recognised as national heroes for their service to the nation.

This act of corporate social responsibility by FAGE highlights the important role that business associations can play in supporting national events and demonstrating solidarity during times of national mourning and remembrance.
