Essence Clinic and Medical Laboratory is now delivering clearer patient scan results in record time, thanks to the launch of a new advanced imaging system.
This technology directly tackles the critical delays in diagnostic reporting that plague many Ghanaian healthcare facilities.
The system is designed to help medical professionals handle digital imaging more efficiently—automatically processing DICOM files from ultrasound and other equipment, registering examination details, and producing structured reports within seconds.
This comes at a time when many health facilities across developing countries struggle with delays due to limited specialists and rising patient numbers.
The core aim, according to the engineers who developed the system, is to simplify the daily work of Ghanaian health professionals.
Software Engineer Liu Xianbo explained that many facilities still lack digital management systems, forcing staff to manually move images from the diagnostic machines to computers.
He noted that the new technology is intended to eliminate these extra steps, helping doctors and nurses work more swiftly by giving them direct access to images and reports without the usual delays.
Sonographers at Essence Clinic confirm that the system is already improving their workflow.
Dorothy Nyameye Donkor, one of the clinic’s sonographers, shared that the tool helps clarify uncertainties that sometimes arise during report writing.
“Sometimes when I encounter unfamiliar findings or struggle to choose the right terminology, the system provides clearer descriptions and guides me toward the most accurate medical expressions. If you are unsure of a pathology, the system helps you explain it better.”
For professionals who perform dozens of scans each day, this level of support is more than convenience—it is relief.

Gideon Elikem Foli, another sonographer, highlighted its ability to compare findings. He explained that when scanning organs such as the uterus, the tool can match what it sees with vast amounts of similar images and medical conclusions.
He noted that by reviewing and analysing large collections of comparable cases, the system can produce more reliable report suggestions, making their work both faster and more confident.
Experts say these kinds of tools are becoming essential in modern healthcare worldwide as they help close human-resource gaps, improve response time, and give clinicians dependable support during diagnosis. Gideon believes Ghana is moving in the same direction.
“Telemedicine, prognosis, and diagnosis are now possible. As the world advances, we’ll reach a point where not every case will need a physical examination before drawing a conclusion,” he added.
As Essence Clinic continues its journey, one truth is already clear: this advanced imaging system is more than just new hardware. It is actively reshaping how patients are assessed, offering them clarity and care with a speed that was once difficult to imagine.
